Business 101 Awesome for New Tech Companies
Five Ferris & Britton APC attorneys presented a workshop titled "Business 101" under the auspices of the San Diego Regional Technology Alliance (SDRTA) to 25 participants. "The content was awesome and we got a lot of great feedback" said Nepi Ilgaz, Director of Entrepreneur Services for SDRTA. The workshop was held at the Science Technology Center and answered questions for new tech and biotech businesses. The presentation focused on start-up and early-stage businesses as they prepare initial strategies or strengthen existing business models. Topics covered included business formation, choice of entity, contracts, leases, income tax, record keeping and employment issues. Lee Burdick moderated the workshop. Presentations were give by Gary Moyer, Steven Pynes, Eric Volkert and Barry Raspotnik.

$90 Million Merger
San Diego based Ferris & Britton APC represented Structural Bioinformatics, Inc., in its recent acquisition of GeneFormatics, Inc. The acquisition was accomplished by means of a reverse triangular merger. After completion of the acquisition, Structural Bioinformatics changed its corporate name to Cengent Therapeutics. Partners Gary Moyer and Al Ferris led the $90 million deal.

Celebrating 35 Years of Service
Ferris & Britton APC recently celebrated its 35th year of service to the California and Southwest business communities with a black-tie dinner cruise on San Diego Bay. The event was hosted for over 100 clients and other friends of the firm aboard the 1920s-era motor yacht Trumpy. Music was supplied by the David Patrone Band.

"While we definitely intend to celebrate the fact that Ferris & Britton is the only San Diego business law firm of our size that has reached its 35th birthday, the real focus of the evening was to honor and thank our clients and friends for helping us achieve that milestone," said Gary Moyer, the managing officer of Ferris & Britton. The celebration included a number of tributes to the founders of the firm and long-time employees.

The firm has been serving the business, investment and professional communities, with special though not exclusive emphasis upon the telecommunications, high-tech and biotechnology sectors, since 1968. Ferris & Britton APC has the highest rating given by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and is listed in that publication's "Register of Preeminent Lawyers."
