Michael R. Weinstein joined the firm in September 1988, after practicing for six years with the Law Department of San Diego Gas & Electric Company. He received his law degree in 1982 from UCLA, where he was an editor of the UCLA-Alaska Law Review. He also received his undergraduate degree in Economics in 1979 from UCLA, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
Mike was a firm shareholder for many years. He headed the Litigation Department, which handles all types of business litigation matters, including but not limited to business-to-business and employment disputes, from pre-litigation through resolution by way of settlement, alternative dispute resolution, court trial, or jury trial.
As of January 1, 2023, Mike’s status changed to “Of Counsel” as he began his transition to retirement. Currently, Mike works on litigation matters and provides support to the Litigation Department team. He is admitted to practice in all California state courts as well as federal courts in the Southern, Central, and Eastern districts of California. San Diego Magazine recognized Mike as a San Diego Magazine Top Lawyer in both 2019 and 2020.
Mike and his wife, Dana, a retired attorney, reside in San Diego, and have 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren.
