Mr. Granby is actively involved in the acquisition of secured notes on distressed commercial real estate, as well as the direct acquisition of real estate. He is also active in large international commodities transactions.

For the past 20 years Mr. Granby has from time to time served as a court appointed Receiver in Southern California, and was recently appointed the Receiver of the Catalina Beach House Hotel, on Catalina Island, by the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. As a Receiver he has on many occasions taken control of and operated commercial and business entities. He has served as a Receiver at the request of the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), Wells Fargo Bank, First National Bank, Home Savings, Security Pacific National Bank, and Great American Bank, among others.

As a businessman, he has been actively involved in the development of new commercial television stations in the Los Angeles area, and was a founder of a commercial television station, KSWB, Fox 5. He has also been involved in the development and operation of many other commercial and business enterprises. He was the founding President and Chairman of the Convention Center Corporation and for seven years led the real estate development and planning, construction and opening of the San Diego Convention Center, constructed at a cost of $200 million, and now the largest public facility in the region. The Convention Center has been selected as The Best Convention Center in North America and as one of the Top Three Convention Centers in the World.

He is past President of the County Bar Association and served as a lawyer delegate to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. He is a member of the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Granby received his law degree from The University of Chicago Law School. He is a Vietnam veteran and served for three years as an officer in the United States Navy. Mr. Granby previously was a partner with Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch and is recognized for his expertise in receiverships, business,corporate and partnership matters.
